Student Request to Resume Undergraduate Research, Summer 2020

This form is to be completed by UConn undergraduate students who wish to resume in-person/on-campus/field research activities during summer 2020.
  • Summer 2020 Undergraduate Research

Any undergraduate student's involvement in in-person, on-campus, and/or field research during summer 2020 is completely optional. You should not be pressured in any way by your mentor or research group to resume in-person/on-campus/field research; please contact our@uconn.edu immediately if this occurs.

Please note that your ability to resume research activities will depend on the status and parameters of your mentor's lab or field research ramp-up. If, for example, they are not yet ready to reopen their lab or the lab space does not allow for additional personnel while maintaining physical distancing guidelines, it may not be possible for you to resume research activities this summer. Any resumption of in-person/on-campus/field research by undergraduate researchers must occur under an OVPR-approved COVID-19 Safety Plan.

This form must be submitted if you will be resuming research on or before August 28, 2020. No form is required for fall research.
  • Please provide a uconn.edu or uchc.edu email address.
  • Please provide a brief description of the research activities you hope to engage in this summer, including the location(s) of those activities.
  • Please select all of the descriptors below that apply to you/your project.
  • Next Steps

Once you submit this expression of interest, OUR will reach out to your faculty mentor to describe the next steps in the process. You will receive a copy of the responses you submitted via email to the address you entered above, as well as a link to the "Returning to Research: COVID-19 Training for UConn and UConn Health Researchers" online training.

Both your completion of the COVID-19 safety training and your training on the OVPR-approved COVID-19 Safety Plan must be documented before resuming in-person/on-campus/field research activities.

Once you resume in-person/on-campus/field research activities, you must follow all aspects of the Safety Plan. Modifications to your research activities may be required if conditions change. Maintain an open dialogue with your mentor and with OUR as needed. If you become uncomfortable at any time with your involvement in in-person/on-campus/field research, you can return to remote research or otherwise modify your research activities in consultation with your mentor. Your comfort and safety are of paramount importance. Please do not hesitate to contact OUR via email to our@uconn.edu with any questions or concerns.
