Undergraduate Research Opportunity Description

Project Description We are seeking a student to join the Total Teacher Health research team studying the factors that influence educator stress and implementing workplace solutions to improve teacher mental well-being. You will learn many aspects of Public Health research including qualitative and quantitative data management and analysis as well as creation and testing of program materials. You will also gain knowledge in Public Health, community-based-participatory research, and occupational health and skills in survey research methods, and data management and analysis.
Project Direction Our study aims to deepen our understanding of changeable workplace factors that influence teacher well-being. We will create and ultimately implement a workbook for teacher teams to use to create, implement and assess workplace changes that reduce stress and improve well-being.
Mentorship and Supervision An individual development plan will be created at the beginning of the project to identify the student’s strengths and areas for improvement and growth. Weekly individual meetings with the study personnel will monitor the student’s progress with respect to the IDP. Bi-weekly project meetings with study team including faculty will highlight the student’s contribution to the larger project goals.
Student Qualifications Preferred qualifications include course work in Public Health or Allied Health, data analysis; experience with surveys and databases; experience with focus groups and qualitative data coding.

Schedule: M-F, 8am-5:00pm
Project Continuation Fall 2022, Spring 2023
Academic Year Time Commitment 6-9 hours/week
