Undergraduate Research Opportunity Description

Project Description Connecticut Children’s has launched our health disparities research group. This group has several projects undergoing all under the umbrella of making sure all families have the same access to care and are included in relevant clinical research being conducted at our institution. Students will work to extract data from our electronic health record in order to support these projects.
Project Direction Reducing health disparities is a critical mission. This research is part of the institution’s larger DEI initiatives.
Mentorship and Supervision Supervision and mentoring through weekly 1:1 meeting and monthly meetings in the health disparities research meeting where students can present the work they have been doing. Progress will be monitored in the weekly 1:1 meetings and through collaborative tasks lists.
Student Qualifications Students who are familiar with Microsoft office products and have an interest in health disparities would be well suited for this opportunity.
Summer Schedule Options Research Dates: May 24 to July 30, 2021
Schedule: M-F, 8am-4:30pm
Location: Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC)
Project Continuation Fall 2021, Spring 2022
Academic Year Time Commitment 3-9 hours/week
Possible Thesis Project Yes
