Undergraduate Research Opportunity Description

Project Description We have multiple NIH-funded R01s of clinical trials for addictions. All of these projects involve behavioral interventions, and most involve a specific intervention called contingency management. The specific project the student would be assigned would depend on the patch between their individual preferences and study needs at the time. Opportunities may include data entry, assisting with study auditing procedures, as well as direct contact with participants, conducting research interviews, and screening participants.
Project Direction The majority of our studies are 5-year clinical trials. Newly funded studies would progress from study start-up activities to data collection in this time frame. Ongoing studies will continue data collection and possibly move toward data cleaning and analysis.
Mentorship and Supervision Dr. Rash or another PI in the lab will check in at the end of each shift briefly about activities completed and goals for the next shift. The student’s shifts will be scheduled when one or more PIs are available to answer questions, or alternately, they will have a lead research assistant accessible who can address questions. The student will also be invited to attend study or lab meetings with the research assistants.
Student Qualifications Students must complete the online CITI certification in human subjects research prior to working with data or participants.
