Project Mentor
Dr. Sherry Pagoto
Department: Allied Health Sciences
Research Project Overview:
We are conducting a randomized controlled trial of two different telehealth delivered behavioral weight loss programs. One program will be delivered synchronously, via Zoom, and the other will be delivered asynchronously in private Facebook groups. We are interested in determining whether we can effectively deliver group-based behavioral programs via telehealth asynchronously.
Role of a SHARE Summer Apprentice:
We are looking for motivated undergraduate students who are interested in learning about clinical trials and behavioral interventions, and who can assist us in extracting data from online platforms.
Summer Schedule/Time Commitment:
The hours students work can be flexible; however, we expect attendance at lab meetings on Mondays at 9:30am and to meet with their doctoral student mentor during the day during the week. All activities are virtual.
Students may complete their tasks any time though. Students should have an easy time working around other commitments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Interest in behavioral research, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work independently without micromanagement, good communication skills. Research methods coursework is a plus.

Please note:
All students hired for a SHARE Summer apprenticeship must complete a federal I-9 form and present original documents in person to OUR staff as part of the hiring process. Visit this U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services page for more information about acceptable documents. You cannot begin working until this is complete. Students are encouraged to plan ahead for this. For example, if you are going home for spring break, consider bringing original documents back to campus with you.
