Research Project Overview:
Engaged, Public, Oral and Community Histories (EPOCH) is seeking interns to work on oral history research, interviews, transcription, community outreach in the area of Puerto Rican migration, settement and political development and community activism. Students will work with Dr Charles Venator and Dr Fiona Vernal on the Puerto Rican Studies Initiative. There are additional opportunities to work on African American oral histories and West Indian oral histories.
Role of a SHARE Summer Apprentice:
In keeping with our past initiatives, we will integrate students into research and writing and allow them to select aspects of oral histories project management that is of interest to them and that is suitable for their professional development
Summer Schedule/Time Commitment:
We will accommodate students’ other commitments.
Preferred Qualifications:
We are interested in working with early career students so they can take advantage of other paid opportunities that may be available through grant funding. The Puerto Rican Studies project will give preference to students who are fluent in Spanish.
