Project Mentor
Dr. Kathleen Lynch
Department: Educational Psychology
Research Project Overview:
The student would work with Dr. Lynch on two research projects related to personalized learning, STEM education, and out-of-school time learning, with implications for recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. We analyze and write about experimental research studies as well as qualitative interview data on these topics. We disseminate the results for scholarly and public use. Research Apprentices play a crucial role in gathering and coding the articles, as well as interview data.
Role of a SHARE Summer Apprentice:
I expect the Research Apprentice to learn useful research skills for coding and organizing data. They will also learn about education research, from research design to presentation of results.
Research apprentices will:
- Compile (data entry) and code research study information.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Academic interest in education, economics, psychology, or sociology is a plus.
- Prefer some coursework in quantitative methods (statistics) or qualitative methods but not required.
- Attention to detail and consistency is important.
