Ariane Garrett is a senior majoring in biomedical engineering and Spanish, and is involved with research under the mentorship of Dr. Kazunori Hoshino. Her project focuses on the development of a "smart" cerebral spinal fluid shunt capable of measuring flow in vivo. Ariane is part of the eighth cohort of UConn IDEA Grant recipients, and is a SURF recipient, Holster Scholar and University Scholar. In addition, she was named a 2019 Goldwater Scholar. She also works as a tutor in the Engineering Tutoring Center. When she is not in lab or studying, Ariane enjoys running, reading, and hanging out with her dog.
