Undergraduate Research Opportunity Description

Project Description The project involved the fabrication and characterization of an innovative bioprinter that can deliver cells into lesions or into skin for treatment of skin-related injuries and diseases. In this project the trainee will have the opportunity to work with our handheld and robotic tools to achieve the tasks. The trainee will also be able to test the effectiveness of cell and therapeutics delivery.
Project Direction The continuation of the research will be focused on the assessment of the biological outcome and function of the delivered therapeutics in vitro and eventually in animal models. We will also explore the benefit of this technology for serving as wound closure systems.
Mentorship and Supervision The trainee will be paired with a graduate student and a postdoc to gain experience for performing the tasks. In addition, weekly one-on-one meetings with the faculty, the trainee will participate and present his/her research progress in group meetings and get feedback from the lab members.
Student Qualifications An interest in biomaterials and biorobitics is essential.
Summer Schedule Options The expected schedule is on weekdays from 9:30am-5pm.
