Undergraduate Research Opportunity Description

Project Description We are conducting short satisfaction surveys with residents and family members from each nursing home in Connecticut. Over the summer we are looking for someone to assist with recruiting family members to complete a brief 3-question survey. You will be based in our office helping email, mail, and call individuals who are the family members of nursing home residents to ask them to complete the survey. You will also accompany research team members to conduct surveys in nursing homes with residents. You will help analyze the data collected with this survey to understand differences across nursing homes.
Project Direction In 2024 Connecticut is launching its first annual Nursing Home satisfaction survey to determine how residents and family members feel about the care they are receiving in all Medicaid-certified nursing homes across the state. Results of these surveys, along with other nursing home quality information, will be used in setting reimbursement rates across the state. Surveys will be conducted throughout the calendar year, and will continue in annual survey cycles each year.
Mentorship and Supervision The research assistant will meet with the project manager and other research staff weekly and will meet with project leadership at least every 2 weeks. He/she will work on a large team of other research staff who are available at any time in the office, by phone, or email to answer any questions as they come up.
Student Qualifications Previous experience working or communicating with older adults, people with disabilities and their families. Preferred to be personable and friendly on the phone, this helps when we recruit people by phone!
