To guide you in the proposal process, funded proposals from Round One may be reviewed online in the Archives section of the TNE website (http://www.tne.uconn.edu/).

1. Problem Statement (25 points)

Include a problem statement that clearly states the significance of your work and how it is aligned with one or more of the three TNE Design Principles:

  1. Decisions driven by evidence;
  2. Engagement of Arts and Sciences in the preparation of teachers;
  3. Teaching as an academically taught clinical practice profession that involves a residency/induction period for new teachers.

More detailed information regarding these principles may be found at http://www.tne.uconn.edu/ProjectOverview.htm.

2. Related Work (15 points)

Include a brief summary of recently published work related to your project and an explanation of how your proposed work fits into the context of the existing literature.

3. Methodology (25 points)
  1. Questions/Hypotheses
    1. State the research question(s) to be addressed, as well as any hypotheses to be tested.
  2. Procedures for collecting information
    1. Describe the kind(s) of information you intend to collect and how you will do so; include a timeline that delineates the dates of milestones used to mark progress.
  3. Analyses

  4. Collaboration
    1. Describe any collaborative relationships across departments, across colleges/schools, or involving K-12 schools that will result from your project; explain why these collaborations are essential for the success of your proposed project.
4. Expected End Product (25 points)

Describe the product(s) you hope to produce. Answer the question, "What will TNE get out of this project?", noting issues of reliablity, validity, and replicability.

6. Budget (5 points)

Provide a budget noting two categories, personnel and non-personnel services, if appropriate. Note any matching or in-kind contributions that could leverage the proposed TNE funding.
