SUMMER INTERNSHIPS [REU ROWLEY]

Description

The Ecosystems Center of the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts is seeking qualified undergraduate students to participate in its summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. 4 to 6 students in total will design and implement independent projects under the supervision of resident faculty. Fieldwork will be conducted at the Plum Island Long Term Environmental Research site located in Rowley, Massachusetts. This program is contingent on funding.

DUTIES: Independent projects will focus on the general fields of coastal and estuarine biogeochemistry or ecology. Possible projects include estuarine organism biology and ecology, nitrogen biogeochemistry and the effects of land use changes. Final projects will be tailored to the selected students' specific interests and professional goals.

CONDITIONS: We seek individuals who have an excitement about science and ecology, an interest in coastal and estuarine research, proven performance in upper level college courses and a willingness to work in a cooperative environment under difficulty physical conditions.

EDUCATION: Each position pays a small stipend and allows some money for supplies and travel.
